Christmas Charm

I love the pop of color that these little red berries give to this classic white bouquet. It reminds me of Christmastime. And when I think of Christmas weddings- I immediately think of my best friend (and former roomie) Sarah. Tucking this away for future inspiration, Keyfer. :)

more wedding fun

As you saw in my last post, the weekend before last we had several wedding festivities to attend for Calley and Brian. Then after my trip to DC last week, we made a quick trip home to Demopolis to attend the wedding of my high school friend Morgan. Here's the sweet couple below, just after they were pronounced husband and wife.

While we were down, we also spent a little time in Linden visiting Clint's parents and grandparents. Fun weekend!

lately

What's been going on lately- in pictures:

Finished reading The Carrie Diaries. Very cute read for any of you fellow SATC lovers.

Someone came to show me her new wagon.

Calley and Brian's rehearsal dinner was held at the Vulcan. Beautiful view.

The newlyweds cutting the cake.

Clint and I before Calley and Brian's wedding.

Candace and I before Calley and Brian's wedding.

Another trip to DC for work/class. Saw this in one of the Smithsonian museums and immediately thought: ROLL TIDE. (Side note: we have a daily countdown to kickoff going on in this house).

Museum of Natural History in DC

One piece in the First Ladys' Gown exhibit. Michelle Obama's inaugural gown.

Julia Child's kitchen exhibit.

FBI agent outside the building where our class in DC was held. Bomb scare. Clearly since I'm still alive to post about it- false alarm.

two favorites

In addition to my Pepper Place visit, we also had the opportunity to cookout with some friends over the weekend. It was a very enjoyable evening with good food and good company! After dinner, Clint and Addison went to visit the ducks at a nearby pond. I snapped a couple of quick pictures- so without further ado, here are two of my favorite people:

Pepper Place

This past Saturday Sarah and I made our first venture to Pepper Place. Pepper Place is a Saturday morning market held in the Lakeview District near the old Dr. Pepper building. At the market you can find almost anything- locally grown fruits and vegetables, fresh flowers, artwork, jewelry, baked breads and pastries, coffees and teas, etc. We sipped on some delicious iced coffee as we shopped. It was a fun experience and I hope we can go back again soon! Below are a few images from the market (once again- poor quality as they were taken with my iPhone).

This final picture is a little sample of what I actually took home: peaches, tomatoes, radishes, and honey!

Finally Friday!

The weekend is upon us! I'm working half the day and will then spend the other half travelling home to Birmingham. Clint's parents will be in town this evening and are going to spend the night with us before heading off on a mini-vacay tomorrow morning. We have dinner plans tonight at Firebirds - one of my favorite places! Tomorrow morning Sarah and I are going to make our first trip to Pepper Place, and then on Sunday I am helping host a bridal shower for my friend Ashley! Busy (but fun) weekend ahead! On that note, I'll leave you with my thoughts on some of the week's events:

Lindsay HOhan- why is she even a news story anymore? What has she contributed to the TV/film industry lately worth mentioning? Here she is at the MTV Movie Awards looking a hot mess as usual. Apparently the after-party ended with her SCRAM (alcohol monitoring device) being activated. WHY IS THIS SURPRISING? This girl has clearly needed to be in rehab for the last 2 years, and she obviously has the SCRAM because there is evidence of a substance-abuse issue. I can not even understand why she is relevant anymore. Whatever. I digress.

Here's Sandy at both the Spike Awards and the MTV Movie Awards- looking ravishing as usual! She is so funny and has such a good outlook, despite the recent whirlwind personal scandal. I love her!

Nicole Richie- she is one HOTT mama! She looks beautiful at the Glamour Women of the Year 2010 Awards. She won for best entrepreneur- adult and children's clothing, jewelry, etc. I usually do not like her hair dark, but I think she is stunning in this photo!

WTF happened to Izzy's hair? This is so bad it's almost funny. How could she have possibly thought this looked GOOD? I'm slightly over Katherine Heigel....I loved her when she started out, but it seems someone has gotten a little too big for her britches. She has talked crap about the two things that even made her name recognizable- Grey's Anatomy and Knocked Up. Get over yourself. Before leaving Grey's she only completed like 3 episodes or something, but she has still submitted her name for Emmy consideration. Make sense to you? Nope, me either.

I LOVE TSwizzle, but I do not love this look. This is her at the CMT Awards. I prefer her hair curly, and this color just looks too harsh for her. Don't get me wrong- she doesn't look terrible, but I've seen her look way better.

The despicable Joran Van der Sloot. In case you are living under a rock, he has been arrested for the murder of a Peruvian girl and also now claims that he knows where the body of Natalie Holloway is located. I sure hope justice is served this time around.

This is Bill, Sookie, and Eric...well, at least that's their names on True Blood. In real life this is Stephen, Anna, and Alexander. This is them at the HBO True Blood Season 3 Premiere Party. Guess what FINALLY premieres this Sunday??? You guessed it- TRUE BLOOD! Clint, Sarah, and I cannot wait!

Have a great weekend!

Progress!

Despite being busy with work, travel, and life in general, I have managed to get a few things accomplished related to our wedding. I've checked with the church and reception site to verify available dates in March and April 2011. We are good to go on that end, with a good bit of flexibility. As I mentioned, we were shooting for March 12 as our date, but since then, I met with a wedding planner. I really liked her and am in the process of deciding if I will actually use her and how we can work that added expense into the budget. That being said, if we do use her- March 12 is not an available date for her. So that explains why I checked on alternate dates with the church and reception site. I never thought of myself as someone who would consider hiring a planner since I LOVE weddings so much, but with the travel demands of my schedule and trying to arrange a hometown wedding- I'm beginning to think I need one.
In addition, I also have begun collecting information from photographers and bands, and that will affect the final date as well. Some of the vendors out of Birmingham are already booked for certain dates in March and April. One good thing about having a small town wedding- the demand for the church and reception site isn't exactly high, so we can be flexible with the date if there is a vendor we really love. Overall, we want to pull off a casual, yet elegant event and we want our guests to have a LOT of fun. So that's a little brief update- will keep you posted!
This is Trinity Episcopal- the location for our ceremony.

This is the only picture I could find, but this is Lyon Hall, where our reception will be held.

Fabulous Flowers- Part 2

I hate to be redundant since I did a similar post yesterday, but I just couldn't NOT share this photo. Sooooo pretty!
